A Baltimore county fire official at the scene stated that gas-fed fires create a large and immediate hazard because the fire must be controlled before it can be extinguished. In this situation this involved taking precautions by knocking holes in the roof to vent the smoke and avoid a possible explosion.
The property, Grey Rock Villas is a development managed by WPM Real Estate Group. Its president, Mike Klein, was on the scene shortly after the accident occurred. When the firefighters finished their job, he began directing his crews to take the necessary steps to secure the property until morning when the myriad of problems created could be prioritized and addressed.
Commenting on the event, Klein said,"When unfortunate accidents like this occur, our years of experience and "boots on the ground" approach will pay dividends as we do everything necessary to get our residents back into a safe comfortable home as quickly as possible."
WPM Responds Quickly to Life Threatening Accident
Smoke and heavy flames dominated the Baltimore County landscape when firefighters arrived at a townhouse in the 8800 block of Howard Forest Lane in Pikesville on Wednesday afternoon March 28th. The fire was caused when a truck backed over a gas line and ignited a fire which caused extensive damage to that property and two neighboring homes.
